‘I wanted to learn about lifting weights from a professional to train myself safely because although I know that lifting weights is good, but I’m worried about hurting myself,’ said Wei Wan.
This may not look like an amazing ‘Get Abs in 8 Weeks’ kind of transformation, but it has been completely life-changing for Wei Wan.
Weight Loss isn’t always linear & progress can come in many different forms. In Wei Wan’s case, there were many hurdles to overcome since day 1:
1. Used to eating randomly & mindlessly
2. Leading to uncontrolled weight gain & obesity
3. Developed a form of Eating Disorder & decided to finally engage professional help
4. Started out very uncoordinated, unable to feel & activate glutes, chest & lats. All major & important muscle groups to strengthen.
When we first started out, we first had to spend several weeks to set some foundation of how to move, before retrying basic pressing & pulling movements.
Wei Wan could not do a basic Dumbbell Press, a Pulldown or a Cable Row without feeling it all in the wrong parts. 8 months into his training, Wei Wan can now feel his chest & lats when training on his own & that’s a different kind of win.
Reversing Obesity is not an overnight journey; it takes a whole lot of discipline & grind that is invisible to others. But in the end, it is always worth it to be healthier & fitter for our loved ones.
